As part of our growth strategy, we are now seeking an experienced, driven Business Development Manager to help us expand our customer base and strengthen relationships across the construction sector.

The Role:

As our Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in driving new business growth and increasing revenue. You will be responsible for identifying and winning new clients, nurturing existing relationships, and promoting Simtec’s services across the construction industry.

This is a self-managed role, ideal for a highly motivated, results-driven individual with excellent knowledge of the construction sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across construction contractors, consultants, and related sectors
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to drive repeat business and account growth
  • Promote Simtec’s full range of construction materials testing services
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to closing deals
  • Prepare and deliver professional proposals, quotes, and presentations
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure excellent customer experience
  • Achieve and exceed agreed sales targets and KPIs
  • Maintain accurate sales pipeline and CRM records
  • Attend industry networking events, exhibitions, and client meetings as required
  • Contribute to marketing and business growth strategies

Candidate Profile:

Essential:

  • Proven track record in business development or sales within the construction industry (materials testing, civil engineering, building products, specialist subcontracting, or similar)
  • Ability to self-manage, plan your own time, and drive results with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation ability
  • High levels of drive, energy, and resilience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable presenting to senior decision-makers
  • Good understanding of construction project cycles and procurement processes
  • Full UK driving licence


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of construction materials testing industry
  • Existing network of relevant industry contacts
  • Experience with CRM and pipeline management tools

  • Basic salary: Negotiable (dependent on experience)
